Classes meet at 8:00 a.m. and end approximately 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.

For those who have had a formal anchor building class and want to expand their skills to the sharp end of the rope!

This comprehensive course encompasses a wide array of traditional (trad climbing) lead climbing skills. The topics include but are not limited to advanced protection placements and equalization techniques, racking, building multi- directional anchors, the ussage of runners/ slings and cordelettes, methods of reducing rope drag, rope management, proper carabiner orientation and clipping, responsibilities of the leader and second, resting stances, hanging belays, natural hazards, complex anchoring systems, and route finding. Basic self-rescue (belay escapes) and retreat techniques are also taught.

All lead climbing instruction is done while top-roped, so you can concentrate on learning the techniques. All curriculum is subject to guides discretion. If you're serious about lead climbing, this is for you!

Cost: $345 (Cost includes all climbing equipment and climbing instruction)

Tipping your guide is customary when you are pleased with their performance.

Prices are based on a minimum of two participants. In the event that course participant minimums are not met, options include; rescheduling, receiveing a full refund or converting class into "Private Guiding" and paying private guiding rates.

Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School maintains the necessary licenses, permits and liability insurance to operate its rock climbing instruction, rock climbing classes, rock climbing lessons, rock climbing courses, rock climbing seminars and private guiding within Joshua Tree National Park, California.

Dates in Black are "Leading Skills Climbing Instruction" courses offered on Saturday and Sunday.
Dates in Red are "Leading Skills Climbing Instruction" courses offered on selected weekdays.
